If, in the case of a claim with a large loss, you decide it might be best to employ a Loss Assessor to act on your behalf, to help you get what you deserve as part of your claim, then it’s beneficial to have purchased loss recovery insurance in advance. If not, a Loss Assessor can charge you up to 10% of the value of the claim.
Both a Loss Adjuster and a Loss Assessor do the same job, the only difference is that one acts on behalf of the insurance company (the Adjuster) and the other on behalf of the insured client (the Assessor).
It varies according to the policy wording, but most policies operate once a claim (total of damage and profits, where applicable) exceeds £5,000.
Loss recovery insurance is not involved when handling Motor, Liability, Marine Cargo or Terrorism claims. It is only there to provide specialist in-depth assistance with Property & Loss of Income (Business Interruption) claims.
A loss under your primary policy will trigger a claim under this type of policy. As soon as we become aware that it is a serious matter, we will get a Loss Assessor appointed immediately.
Currently at Prizm Solutions we deal with Qlaims, DAS & Lorega, but this may change as insurers enter and exist this insurance market.
