What do you class as a micro business?

The term micro business has various meanings, but we usually define it as a business with an annual turnover of £50,000 or less.

Ask a Question Why do I have to have business insurance?

No matter what size of business you run, if you’ve got employees (or even just labour only sub-contractors) you need Employers Liability insurance by law.

Public Liability is also mandatory for certain types of business.

As for other types of insurance, apart from Motor Insurance none of it is compulsory, but the whole principle of insurance is that you pay a known fixed sum (the premium) in return for protecting you against unknown and potentially infinite cost (the claim).

Ask a Question So why buy business insurance from Prizm Solutions?

At Prizm Solutions, we totally understand Business Insurance! The majority of our team has first or second hand experience of running their own business, so we really do understand the demands and needs of small business owners. We also deal with over 120 separate insurance companies/underwriters, the vast majority of whom do not deal directly with the public and only deal via a broker.

Ask a Question What is the difference between an advised sale and a non-advised sale, and does it matter?

Yes, we think it matters. A lot. We only sell insurance on an advised basis, which means we give you advice (and are ourselves insured against giving you bad advice).

Imagine going out for a meal in a fancy restaurant and the chef asks you to pick your own ingredients and tell him/her how long to cook it for and they’ll bring your meal out. That is a non-advised sale.

In an advised sale analogy, the chef would suggest what you might like, cook and prepare the meal to suit so you can just sit down and enjoy the experience.

Ask a Question How much will a business insurance policy cost me? And are you more expensive than buying online?

How much a business insurance policy costs depends on what you do as a business. For example, a scaffolder will always cost a lot more to insure than a music teacher.

On occasions we can be more expensive than buying online, but going back to the previous restaurant analogy, would you rather have a 5-star meal cooked for you, or be given a can of baked beans and a loaf of bread and be told to go make it yourself?

The bonus of buying from Prizm Solutions is that you get ongoing advice throughout the whole term of the policy, including in respect of any claims or changes you need to make to your insurances.

What happens if I need to make a claim on my insurance policy?

Should you need to make a claim, make Prizm Solutions your first port of call. As your broker, we are here to help. If your call is out of hours, all insurers operate 24/7 claims lines, and we’ll inform you of these when you take out the policy.

Who do you deal with? Are they any good?

We deal with many insurers and underwriters, some you will have heard of like Aviva, AXA, QBE, Hiscox etc., but many more you won’t have - but they are all A-rated (which means they are financially solvent). At Prizm Solutions, we would never put you with an insurer or underwriter who we wouldn’t be prepared to be insured with ourselves.
