What is Recruitment Insurance?

Recruitment insurance is a flexible multi-section type of insurance policy which, at its simplest, can cover your Assets (Buildings, Contents and Stock), Earnings (Loss of Profits) and Liabilities (Employers, Public, Products, Cyber and Drivers Negligence) under one single policy, with a single premium and renewal date, reducing administration thereby saving you money.

Ask a Question What is Drivers Negligence insurance?

It’s a very specialist form of insurance which covers (fault) damage to the vehicle being driven by a temporary worker who you’ve supplied.

It usually covers up to £10,000 per incident and is based on the number of drivers you supply on a regular basis.

Ask a Question Why would I need to buy Cyber insurance?

Quite simply, because on your system you will hold massive amounts of data about every individual you supply, including their date of birth, NI number, address and maybe even their passport details.

All of this is like gold to a cyber-criminal, which is why you need to take all adequate precautions which includes buying cyber insurance in case your system does get hacked.

Ask a Question What does a Recruitment Insurance policy actually cover?

The basic policy will cover damage to your assets by a list of specified perils including fire, lightning, explosion, aircraft, riot, vandalism, storm, flood, burst pipes, impact, theft and subsidence.

It can also be extended (and we would always recommend this) to include accidental damage – in case (for example) someone spills gloss paint all over your carpet or breaks a machine by accidentally knocking it over.

Once the core cover has been triggered, this will allow you to claim for loss of profits if you can’t trade.

It also covers Public Liability (in case someone enters your premises and slips on the floor), Employers Liability (as required by law, in case a staff member gets hurt in the course of their employment) and Products Liability (in case something you’ve supplied hurts someone or causes damage to their property).

Drivers Negligence and Cyber are optional sections of cover and are explained above. The policy will can be extended to cover damage to Glass, loss of Money, damage to Goods in Transit, Terrorism, Fidelity (cash by an employee), Legal Expenses and Engineering Breakdown.

Ask a Question How much does Recruitment insurance cost?

It depends on your turnover and whether you only deal in supplying permanent staff or temporary workers too. Businesses which supply only permanent staff can often buy insurance for less than £1,000 per annum, whereas if you’re supplying temporary staff too we have several clients paying in excess of £10,000 per annum.

Questions we frequently get asked about Recruitment insurance

Why won’t a simple (and cheaper) Office insurance suffice?

Basically, because of the liability exposures of sending a temp (or a perm for that matter) out to work at someone else’s premises. Although you will have Terms and Conditions which say you aren’t liable for anything, if someone gets hurt and you get dragged into the case, that is really not a good time to find out your terms and conditions aren’t as tight as you thought they were, and that your insurance policy isn’t up to scratch either! That’s why we would always recommend buying bespoke insurance from a broker who understands this sector and can source cover from a specialist insurer.

What is the minimum insurance I need to take out to trade?

Employers Liability, which is only available with Public Liability. After that everything is optional. Unless you have company cars of course which will need motor insurance, obviously.

I supply specialist staff into niche industries insurance, can you help?

Yes. The massive advantage of dealing with an independent broker is that we are not tied to any one insurer/provider, so can source whoever provides you the best cover (at the best price, of course).
